Welcome Year 4!
I hope you are all ready for an extremely exciting term with lots of fun activities planned. Year 4’s topic this term is Extreme Environments! We will be learning all about countries and continents, climates and cultures. From expeditions to Antarctica to tropical rainforests, we aim to explore the extremes of our planet Earth. In Y4R/W Mr Poulton will be teaching some of your lessons.
We will be using artistic techniques to produce a range of art work, using a variety of different materials, including sand and ice! We also have other fun things organised but you will find out about these later in the term!
In science this term, we will investigate animal adaptations and food chains and link this with the environments that we discover. We will observe climate change and our individual responsibility, and how this impacts upon the local and wider environment. We are currently trying to arrange a trip to The Great North Museum to attend a workshop about habitats and animals.
PE is every Tuesday and Friday in both classes. Coaches have been provided for both gymnastics and tag rugby, with the potential to participate in a rugby competition. Please make sure you have your PE kit in school. Also, as the weather is getting warmer, please ensure you have a water bottle every day and sun cream applied.
Don’t forget to look at Kids Zone too for fun games.
