English – Year 3
Monday 18th January
Today we are going to read a short extract (see below). You need to read the information carefully and then draw, using the description from the text, a detailed picture of the person being described.
Around your detailed drawing you need to label the person, using the information (quotes) from the text. For example, you would label her eyes ‘her eye most fierce’, label her hair ‘the tawniest hair fell to her hips.’
Use an online children’s dictionary to find out and log the meanings of these unfamiliar words :
Stature
Harsh
Mass
Tawniest
Tunic
Divers
Brooch
‘’In stature she was very tall, in appearance most terrifying, in the glance of her eye most fierce, and her voice was harsh. A great mass of the tawniest hair fell to her hips, around her neck was a large golden necklace, and she wore a tunic of divers colours over which a thick mantle was fastened with a brooch. She clutched a spear when she spoke to her people.’’
