Spellings

Please find this week's spellings below

 

Y4: natural, separate, breathe, favourite, naughty, special, build, February, notice, straight.

 

Y5: recommend, available, forty, relevant, average, frequently, restaurant, awkward, government, rhyme

 

Your child should aim to spend about 10 minutes each day practising these words. 

 

These words are from the national curriculum and cover words pupils frequently use in writing or which are commonly misspelled. 

On a Friday, test your child - this can be completed orally and it does not have to be recorded. Also, you do not need to send in evidence of any spelling tasks either. 

 

Some suggested activities include

 

  •  Look up the definition for each spelling word. 
  •  Write a simple definition for each spelling word dictionary style (you must list them in alphabetical order.
  •  Write sentences including those key spelling words.
  • Look and cover and write and check.
  • Practise your spellings in a creative way. e.g. bubble writing
