# Thursday 4th March

Our last day of online maths learning! I can't wait to have my lovely maths class all back together. I have some great maths games and activities to get us back into the swing of working at school, so I hope you are looking forward to those!

Today we are looking at equivalent fractions.

If I were to cut a cake in two equal parts and I ate one of the pieces, I would eat a half (1/2) a cake.

If I instead cut the cake into four equal bits and I still wanted to eat the same amount of cake I would have to eat 2 pieces - 2 out of the 4 pieces or 2/4 of the cake, but I would be eating the same amount of cake

So I can say that 1/2 = 2/4 and say that they are equivalent to each other. They mean the same thing.

Watch the video for further help and then answer the questions sheet.

If you do not print out the work sheet, you should be able to draw the bar models on your squared paper or in your workbook. Please use a ruler to draw these if you have one.
