Today, we're going to look at what a fraction is.

 

You should know that the denominator (the number on the bottom of a fraction) tells us how many equal parts something has been divided in to. 

 

You should know that the numerator (the number on the top of the fraction) tells us how many equal parts we are looking at. 

 

We should know that a unit fraction is when the numerator is 1 and a non unit fraction is all the other fractions. 

 

Watch the video and then complete the work sheet. You can have a go at drawing the shapes for Q2 and the number lines for Qs 5 and 6, if you don't print the sheet out. Try to use a ruler, if you have one.  For Q 3, just list the unit fractions. and for Q4, list the letter which shows the fraction asked for.
