Reading

Before you do your writing today, you will need to read from P74 - 89 ( December 9th and December 10th entries.)

As you are reading, jot down some of the words and phrases which describe the storm and the events which happen in these chapters. These will help you to write a newspaper report. Words such as 'hail squalls' and 'making no headway in the teeth of a gale'.

To help you access the story, I have recorded the 2 chapters and they can be found below. You can still read independently or with an adult at home.

Writing

We are going to plan a Newspaper Report for the wreck of the Zanzibar.

You will need to make sure that you have your 5 W's (Who, what, when, where, why), how and have some eye witness accounts of what happened. Remember to go back to the text to add your details to your plan.

Read through the PowerPoint to help you get started.

Once you have read the PowerPoint or PDF, here is a planning frame that you can use. You do not need to print it out. Just use the headings and jot down your plan. Remember, a plan does not have to be in sentences. Just use bullet points and words and phrases.
