Well done to our amazing students who have been given an award in Celebration Worship this week!
All of the children at Jarrow Cross have had the opportunity to take part in workshops led by Lydia from Groundworks. Every year group was given a different project to work on, ranging from plastic bottle bird feeders to pallet bug hotels to making bags from old t-shirts. All of the projects included re-using recycled materials and a special assembly with Lydia has also helped the children to understand how important recycling is for us now and in the future.

Well done to our amazing students who have been given an award in Celebration Worship this week!
This afternoon, our classroom was buzzing with excitement as we welcomed the amazing team from Groundworks! They inspired us with fascinating facts and fun activities all about recycling and reusing — turning everyday items into something special.
Our little eco-warriors got creative and gave old glass jars a brand-new life… as beautiful lanterns!
To make them glow at home, we recommend popping in a battery-operated tea-light or fairy lights— perfect for adding a warm, twinkly touch to your evening and showing off your child’s handiwork.
Well done to all of our children who have received awards this week for Spelling Frame and Reading Plus as well as our School Vision Awards and Class Award of the Week.
Reception had a lovely visit to the library on 17th October. We listened to Catherine read two stories then we all picked a book to bring back to school. Each morning when we come in, we can share our books with each other as we wait for everyone to arrive. We had lots of support from mams, dads and grandparents, who also joined us.
Reception got a wonderful surprise when three owls came to school to visit. The children have been looking at the story of the 'Owl Babies' this half term so they were delighted when they were able to meet real owls. Every child had the opportunity to hold or stroke each of the owls.
Some of our year 5 and 6 pupils enjoyed a morning of bowling in Sunderland. There were even a few strikes!
Some Y6 children put their Mathematics skills to the test when they visited the Darts Academy!
Class award of the week has been given for demonstrating excellent work and behaviour this week. Well done!
