Friday 20th January
Dear Parents/ Carers,
I hope you are all well and are surviving this cold weather!
I would like to take this opportunity to inform you that Jarrow Cross has this week achieved the Gold Quality Mark for Religious Education. This award recognises the hard work and commitment to the teaching of RE over a period of many years. A huge thank you to Mrs Stavers for all of her hard work with our RE curriculum and the hard work she put into preparing for the assessment of this award.
You can see our new logo on our footer at the bottom of this page.
Regarding Mrs Stavers, I am sure that many of you are aware she will be beginning her maternity leave at the end of this half term (February 17th). Obviously we wish her well and cannot wait to meet the new arrival. After half term her class will be covered by Mrs Calder with whom all of the children are familiar. For your information both Mrs Stavers and Mrs Watson (Y6) will be holding their teacher/ parent discussions on Monday February 13th. Please watch out for a text or email which will contain a link enabling you to book.
Also we are holding a SAT’s information session for Year 6 parents on Wednesday 25th January at 3pm. During the session staff will discuss how parents can help their child on the lead up to the SAT’s Test. We would love to see as many of you there as possible.
I am sure that you will have read and heard this week about upcoming teacher strikes by the National Education Union (NEU)The information we have so far is that strike action will take place nationally and regionally. The dates which could affect South Tyneside are as follow:
At the moment I am unable to give you any details about how they will effect Jarrow Cross as we have been advised to await further information. However, I will ensure that you know about any possible closures as soon as possible.
Have a good weekend,
Mrs McBeth
