Art and Design

Intent

It is our intent that our children as artists, are able to communicate what they see, feel and think through the use of colour, texture, form, pattern and different materials and processes. We endeavour to ensure that all children can partake in a quality arts and culture curriculum which enables them to investigate and explore a variety of artists styles and methods. We trust that our rich curriculum provides opportunities for children to create and achieve

Implementation

Impact

We use formative assessment to measure the impact of our Art and Design curriculum, which is recorded and monitored on a tracking system. Evidence of learning and experiences can be found in books and through conversations with our children. The Art and Design lead monitors the teaching and evidence of the subject through book and planning scrutinies, alongside observations of lessons and conversations with the staff team. Our Knowledge Organisers, ongoing retrieval powerpoints (see Year Group page) and many other activities and strategies are used to revisit and recap prior learning, and to assess retained facts.
