Eco Committee

This year at Jarrow Cross the Eco Committee are working towards ‘Eco School Green Flag status’.  This means we will be checked and monitored for our work towards helping to protect the environment.

This is our new Eco Committee.  We are here if you need to ask any questions or have any good ideas for our school.

We have put together an Action Plan – important things we need to achieve this year.  We need to all work together on this.

  • Reduce the traffic outside of our school
  • Walk to school whenever we can
  • Reduce energy used, so switch off all lights, computers and projectors when not in use
  • Ban glitter – whole school
  • Ensure all rubbish is recycled where possible.

All updates will be recorded on the Eco board and school website.

All classes are monitored twice a day by the Eco Team to check that lights and projectors are switched off while not in use as well as checking that recycling bins are being used correctly.  Efficient classes will be awarded an Eco Token during celebration worship.

At the end of every year, an Eco Trophy will be given to the best ECO class who has been outstanding all year.  That class will receive a prize of an ECO DAY – an outdoor day – lessons outside day – go for a walk day – your class teacher can decide.

So, you can help by keeping our school litter free, ask your parents and carers to park away from the school, walk when you can and turn everything off in your classrooms during playtimes.
