Letter to Parents from Mrs Mcbeth 26.6.20

Friday 26th June

Dear Parents/Carers,

I hope you are well and have been able to enjoy the lovely weather this week. Here is just yet another update regarding new information.

We welcomed some of our Year 6 children back to school this week. I am pleased to say they have all come back fit and well and loved their new Leavers Hoodies, so much so some of them wouldn’t take them off despite the hot weather!! A big thank you to the Friends of Jarrow Cross for their very kind donation towards their cost.

We are now starting to receive information regarding the FSM vouchers scheme for the summer holidays. As we have a seven week holiday this year, parents will receive vouchers for a total of £105 per child. They will be distributed in the usual way by email from Edenred, however more information will follow.

Regarding September, I am sure you will have heard the announcement this week that schools will be open for all pupils in September. We are obviously beyond delighted about this. We are still awaiting further information from the DFE, but this is certainly very positive news. Can I just reinforce as I stated in my letter last week that on returning to school there will be a transition period to give all children time to readjust to school life before moving onto new classes and year groups.

For the next two weeks Home Learning will be taking part in our ‘Virtual Fitness Fortnight.’ A plan will be available from Monday and will list a different fitness challenge for each day. There will also be a short video clip of Mr Taggart or Mrs Watson posted each day modelling each challenge (These shouldn’t be missed!). Children at home and at school will be encouraged to take part and medals and certificates will be awarded to children both attending school and those at home. You can send your results in to school by email to the distance learning account and we would love to see videos and photographs of everyone having a go! For the longer challenges you could record your child (and yourselves!) using the time lapse setting on your phone. Check out the new Virtual Fitness Fortnight area in the Parents Section of the website on Monday for more details.

I cannot believe that we now have only three weeks to go until the end of term. In March when school closed so suddenly I would not have believed that I would still be writing letters such as this to you each week. I cannot thank you enough for your support and patience over the last few months. I will continue to make sure you have all the information which continues to be made available from the DFE before the end of term.

Take care,

Mrs S. McBeth
