School Rewards System and Accredited Awards

School Rewards Systems

Our School Rewards cover many areas of school life.

Daily

Each day Dojo points are awarded to pupils for a range of things such as effort, good behaviour and following our school values. Each class follows a consistent system and rewards are given once a certain amount of DOJO's have been reached. See Below

Weekly

Each Week during Celebration Worship Award the Class Award of the Week is awarded for a variety of things such as an excellent piece of work, trying hard with something which they may have found difficult or simply being a good friend.

During worship we also Award children who have specifically followed our school vision of 'Encourage one Another and build each other up' with our School Vision Award.

Good Attendance is also awarded, The class with the best attendance of the week receives 50 Dojo points and a child from each class who has full attendance has the opportunity to to choose something out of the ' Lucky Dip'.

The Eco Warriors also hand out awards to the classes who have carefully followed our ' Eco rules ' that week.

Termly

Each term an Attendance Assembly is during which we celebrate not only 100% Attendance for the term buts also much improved attendance. Parents are invited along and they receive a prize too!

Annually

At the end of each academic year the children in each year group have the opportunity to vote for someone who the feel has consistently followed our School Values. Consequently a child from each year group is then awarded our ' School Vision Award'.

Sports Awards are also awarded to the children for many different sporting achievements and this ceremony culminates with our ' Sportsman of the Year Award'.

House points linked to the Dojo system are collected all year and the cup for the most House points is awarded and there is an award for the House which achieved the greatest number of points on Sports Day.

During a special celebration our Year 6 children receive many certificates and also trophies for Citizenship, Effort and all round attainment are awarded.

At Jarrow Cross C of E Primary School, we are proud to have achieved many awards. See below our many accredited awards which support our children's personal development.

Accredited Awards

Please see our marked Healthy Schools Award application submission below.

The Public Health Practitioner of our local authority stated the following when a member of staff alongside 2 children collected our Healthy Schools trophy:

"Parental support, communication and engagement is excellent at Jarrow Cross.  As a school who implements the Thrive approach, staff are proactive at ensuring parents and carers are well informed about their child’s experiences at school.  As well as being regularly invited into school for a variety of events and meeting opportunities, feedback is gained via questionnaires where parental views are valued and addressed by staff.  There is a wealth of financial and emotional support available to families, such as education sessions like budget cooking classes, free or subsidised activities, and referrals to specific specialist services.  Building secure relationships with parents and carers ensures that they are confident to approach staff members for support without fear of judgement."

“The public health team were very impressed with this strong Healthy Schools application received from Jarrow Cross Primary School.  Jarrow Cross is one of the borough’s most engaged primaries for Healthy Schools and regularly provides evidence of the highest quality and innovative work around each of the criteria areas, which is often shared with wider teams and networks in the Council as examples of best practice.  Staff are keen to work with the public health team to ensure the best possible health and wellbeing outcomes for their students, and this clearly shows in the children’s feedback that they are healthy, happy and valued.”

In addition, the Public Health Practitioner stated within our application that our work surrounding poverty proofing and providing children with broad experiences was very impressive. Therefore, she shared our work with South Tyneside Council's Poverty awareness department for examples of good practice.
