December Newsletter

Dear Parents,

As the run up to Christmas is now under away, here are just a few reminders of some upcoming events. You should have by now received information for parties for children in Reception, Years 1,2,3 and 4. Information regarding parties for our Year 5 and 6 children will go out today. If you have any queries about parties simply contact the office. Please remember school is providing food etc so there is no cost.

Regarding cost, as a staff we are very mindful of the financial impact Christmas can have upon families. Therefore, we would respectfully request that this year, if you were intending to buy Christmas gifts for staff (which obviously are always greatly appreciated) that instead you simply donate something to our foodbank as this would enable us to support as many families as possible during the Christmas period.  If children wish to show their appreciation to staff, a card with a personal message is always very well received.

This coming week on Wednesday our Reception children are visiting Hall Hill Farm and on Friday Year 1 and 2 are off to the pantomime. Again if you have any queries about visits simply contact your child’s class teacher or the office.

Our choir are busy over the next few weeks and are performing at St. Paul’s Church at the Carols by Candlelight event on Wednesday 14th December. The service begins at 6pm and all are welcome.

The Jarrow Cross Christmas post box is open from today and is situated in the corridor outside of the main office.  Could you please help our postmen and women by ensuring if your child is sending Christmas Cards that they are clearly labelled with the intended person’s name and class for example Reception P, Y1M, Y2Wa etc. Adding the initial of a pupil’s surname can also be helpful. Just like the real Post Office, every year many cards go astray simply because the they are not addressed properly.

Finally, can I just ask parents to be mindful especially if driving, when exiting and turning right from Borough Road at the traffic lights situated immediately on Springwell Road. There have been a few instances in which parents have been crossing the road on foot as the lights have been on red and drivers have failed to stop. I know you will all agree with me safety is always paramount.

Have a good week everyone,

Kind Regards,

Mrs McBeth
