End of Spring Term newsletter 2022

Friday 1st April 2022

Dear Parents/Carers,

As the term draws to a close, here are just a few pieces of information for next week and the term ahead.

For the first time in two years we are able to hold our Holy Trail. This will be held on Wednesday 6th April. Each year the local church community comes into school and shares with the children the last few days of Jesus’ life. Each class starts the trail at a different time. Please note children in the mixed Y3/4 classes will take part as a single year group not combined (see below). The whole school will then join together for a short Easter Service at 11.45am. If you would like to join your child’s class on the trail, simply come in to school for the appropriate time or if you would like to join us for just the service please arrive for 11.45am.

PLEASE NOTE Reception Children will not be taking part in The Holy Trail as they are planning to hold a Parent’s Craft session that morning. Information will be sent direct to yourselves.

It has been lovely to be eventually able to have the children out and about more regularly. Throughout this the last half term Year 1 have visited The Discovery Museum, Year 2 have been to the West Park and planted trees for the Queen’s Jubilee, Year 5 have taken part in orienteering activities and of course some of our Year 5 and 6 children have just returned from their residential visit to Kielder. Hopefully next term we will be able to continue with our trips and visits.

Thank you to all of those parents who took part in our recent Parent/Teacher discussions. If you missed your call please do not hesitate to get in touch to rearrange. As a follow up we will be conducting a Parent Survey over the next few days. Please watch out for a text containing a link.

Next term After School Clubs will restart, the children will be bringing home the new brochure next week.

During the Easter Holidays South Tyneside are again running a Holiday Club programme.  Free places are available for children and young people in South Tyneside, aged 5-16, who are eligible for benefit-related free school meals or from a family currently experiencing hardship.

The programme offers a range of fun activities for children and young people to enjoy with their families, including dancing, games, crafts, sports and outdoor challenges, along with nutritious meals at each event.

Booking is essential for events. For more information and to sign up, visit: www.southtyneside.gov.uk/holidayclub

Finally, if you wish your child to have milk next term payments can be taken now, the cost for the full term is £9.10. Please note that all payments must be made by Tuesday 3rd May.

As you know the last day of term is Friday 8th April and we return to school on Monday 25thApril. I hope you all have a lovely Easter break and look forward to seeing you after the holidays.
