Dear Parents/Carers,
I hope you are all well and looking forward to the Bank Holiday weekend.
As I am sure you are aware there is due to be an announcement from the Prime Minister on Sunday regarding the lifting of some lockdown restrictions. We expect schools to feature in this speech, therefore we might know a little more regarding timescales for reopening by Sunday evening. Once we have a clearer picture on what is happening our first priority will be to share that information with yourselves.
Can I just take the opportunity in this week’s letter to mention E- safety (being safe online). Obviously we all appreciate that at this time phones, ipads etc are a lifeline for the children to be able to communicate with one another. However, I would advise that you routinely check their messages and who they are talking to. We do lots of work at school around E- safety and now more than ever it is important to make sure the children are following E- safety rules. For more information regarding staying safe on line check out our E- safety section on the website. I will be reminding the children of these rules in their letter this week.
I would also just like to thank you again for the kindness and support which has been made known to us during this difficult and unpredictable time. Our school has been functioning very different from usual. Some decisions have had to be made very quickly and the patience shown by you all has been very much appreciated.
Finally, a big thank you to you all for encouraging your children to go on Times Tables Rock stars this week. We won our battle against St Matthew’s by quite a large margin. A special big thank you to Colin Lewis who was top of the leader board with an amazing 22,076 points and to one of our Year 4 pupil Noah Le Tissier who was in second place with an amazing 14,282 points. Obviously your children are the best mathematicians in Jarrow!
Have a lovely weekend, stay safe and take care,
Mrs McBeth
