Letter to parents from Mrs McBeth 10.11.20

Tuesday 10th November

Dear Parents/Carers,

I hope you are all back into routine after the half term holiday and everyone in your household remains fit and well. There is no doubt that this continues to be an extremely difficult time clearly not only in school, but in all areas of life. Unfortunately, COVID 19 is having an effect upon school and as I know you are aware today we have had to send a number of our Year 6 children home. It continues to be vital that we remain vigilant and if yourself or anyone in your household develops symptoms that your child remains at home and you seek a test immediately. For anyone who would find it difficult to get to a test centre we have a number of home tests which we can hand out to families on request.

I thought I would take this opportunity to inform you of a number of events which will be happening in school over the next few days and weeks. On Wednesday we will be holding our Remembrance Assembly, sadly we will not be able to join together in the hall as normal, but we will be recording a virtual Act of Remembrance which we will then share with you on our Website and App. We will send out a link on Wednesday.

On Friday it is Children in Need and we are asking the children to pay a £1 and come to school in sports gear. Throughout the day we will be supporting Joe Wick’s 24 hr PE challenge by taking some fun PE activities. For more information about his challenge, log onto the BBC Children in Need website.

Next Monday is the start of Anti Bullying week and we will be asking children to come to school wearing Odd Socks on Monday 16th November in order to help us celebrate diversity and being different and unique.

As Christmas fast approaches we are already starting to plan a number of activities. The children will still be having a Christmas Party as each bubble/ year group will have their own party. Please see dates below. However, yet again sadly there are certain events which will not be able to take place, such as our Christmas Fayre, however we are planning other activities such as a Christmas Film afternoon and a new event in which all of the school windows will be decorated with a different Christmas theme and families are to be invited to walk around the school (following social distance protocols) viewing the displays. I’m sure it will be even better than Fenwicks!! The Reception children will also still be working on a Nativity Play albeit a virtual one, which parents will be able to access again by our website and APP. I will keep you updated with future dates and information nearer the time. After such a difficult year we are going to try our very best to make sure the children have a special Christmas time in school.

As always thank you for your ongoing support,

Mrs McBeth
