Dear Parents/Carers
I hope you are all well. I cannot quite believe we now only have four weeks left until our summer holidays, therefore as the end of term quickly approaches here are a few pieces of important information.
Firstly, some good news. Our entry for the Better Energy at Schools Award was highly commended.
A big thank you to Mrs Holt for her hard work with this project. Better Energy at Schools stated:
“Many congratulations to everyone at Jarrow Cross Primary C of E School on being Highly Commended for your project 'Plastic Oceans' in the Better Energy School Awards 2021! In an incredibly challenging year for schools, we still received entries from over 13,000 children, so being selected to win an Award is a real achievement, especially as standards remained very high this year.” We loved your recycled artwork highlighting the dangers of plastic pollution! The educational display of local wildlife was great too.
School reports will be sent out to all pupils on Friday 2nd July. Alongside the report will be your child’s attendance and also an invitation providing the opportunity to discuss your child’s report with their class teacher.
Unfortunately, due to the rise in COVID cases we have had to take the decision that we will not be able to invite parents to end of term events. This includes Sports Day. I am sure you will understand that whist the transmission rates of the new Delta variant increase our priority is to keep our school community safe and hopefully ensure that no one is required to isolate at the beginning of the school holidays. Please be assured that the children will still participate in a Sports Day but it will be held in Year Group Bubbles with all of the usual COVID regulations in place. We will be in touch with dates for each year group.
Dates for your diary- You may have heard about an extra Bank Holiday next year to celebrate the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee. It has been decided by the Local Authority that schools will close on May 27th 2020 to celebrate this event. For your information our INSET Days for the academic year 2021/2022 are Monday 6th September, 4th January and 6th June.
Thank you to all of you who have continued to donate to our Free Food Friday over the last few months. With the summer holidays fast approaching we would be grateful for any donations, as we will be encouraging families to make good use of the facility before school closes.
Please remember if you are wanting to order school uniform before September we have very limited stock in school but it can be ordered from www.totstoteams.com
Have a good weekend,
Mrs McBeth
