South Tyneside Quad Kids Athletics
On Friday the 9th of June, three teams made up of Y5 and Y6 pupils took part in the South Tyneside Quadkids Athletics tournament at Monkton Stadium. Each pupil had to compete in a 600m long race, a 75m sprint, the standing long jump and finally the howler (javelin) throw. Out of 48 teams and nearly 500 pupils, Jarrow Cross had all three teams in the top 25 and amazingly, Jarrow Cross A finished in 4th place overall. Every pupil worked hard to perform to their best ability on the day and the encouragement that they gave each other, and other competitors was wonderful to see. We even received comments from other schools congratulating our pupils on their sportsmanship and support that they had shown. Well done to all who took part - and to all the pupils who tried out but didn't make the team this year.
