  • Letter to Parents from Mrs McBeth 26.2.21

    Fri 26 Feb 2021

    Friday 26th February 2021

    Dear Parents/Carers,

I hope you are all well. Like us all I hope you are beginning to see light at the end of the tunnel, not just with the children’s return to school, but with life returning back to some kind of normality in the not to near future.

We are very keen to seek your views regarding how parents and children feel about the return to school. Therefore, on Monday via text you will be receiving a parental questionnaire. Completing it will give you the opportunity to inform us about any concerns, anxieties you may have. The questionnaires will be sent out to each year group therefore, you may receive more than one. It would be very helpful to us if you could fill out a questionnaire for each child. The results will help us to plan the most appropriate activities to support the children during their transition back into school.

We totally appreciate that some of the children may have had a growth spurt whilst they have been off school. Please remember that we have a lot of newly washed pre- loved uniform available in school for a very small donation.  Just pop along to the office and we can sort that out for you. We also do have a limited stock of new uniform available which can also be purchased at www.totstoteams.com

Next week is National Careers Week. Therefore, afternoon learning both at home and at school will be around giving the children the opportunity to think about jobs which they may want to do in the future. Also as part of home learning next week children will be given worksheets to complete regarding how they feel about returning to school. Please encourage your children to complete it and return back to school as again the information will help us to plan for March 8th.

It is also World Book day next Thursday 4th March. We are focusing upon poetry this year and would love pupils to send us videos of them performing poetry that they enjoy or have even written themselves! More information can be found on the school website under ‘News and Events.’ Pupils in school will also be taking part in activities in class. Children at school and at home are welcome to dress up but this is purely optional.

For those of you who have children at home and are eligible for Free School Meals you should have all received your final vouchers this week. If there have been any issues, please simply get in touch. Regarding milk, as you know it is usually £9.10 for a full term, thank you for those who have paid already if your child has been in school since January. If your child is due to return on the 8th March, and would like to have milk for the rest of the term, it will be a charge of £3 for the four weeks until Easter. You can pay this via ParentPay or via the school office.

As I wrote on Tuesday we are so looking forward to March 8th and having all of the children back in school. Thank you for continuing to support their home learning this week and I am sure there will be many sighs of relief due to the fact there is now only one more week to go!

Looking forward to seeing you all very soon,

    Mrs McBeth

  • Letter to Parents from Mrs McBeth 23.2.21

    Tue 23 Feb 2021

    Tuesday 23rd February

    Dear Parents/Carers,

I hope you all had a good half term, by now I know you will have all heard the Prime Minister’s announcement regarding the full reopening of school on Monday 8th March. We are obviously delighted and can’t wait to have all of our children back in school. The children who have remained in school are especially excited to see all of their friends again. That Monday in January in which we last had a full school now seems such a long time ago, we look forward so much to having all of the children back and for the classrooms and school yards again to be full.

A huge thank you again for all of your hard work over the last few months. We all recognise the strains home schooling has placed upon families and are just glad there is now definitely light at the end of the tunnel. You have done such an amazing job. We would ask you to keep on going for this final two weeks as the work you are doing is invaluable.

As with the previous return to school in September the Government are again stating that school attendance is mandatory. It is totally understandable that some of you may be anxious about this, if this is the case please get in touch so either myself or a member of staff can discuss your concerns.

Regarding our full reopening on March 8th, school will be running as it was prior to Christmas and during this last half term. Children will wear their school uniform with the exception of PE days, there will continue to be a staggered start and end to the school day (see below as a reminder), break times and lunchtimes will also continue to be staggered and children will remain in their year group bubbles. All hygiene and cleaning regulations will be followed and as previously masks will be required to be worn by adults and secondary age children within the school grounds. Breakfast Club will continue to run but remain capped at 30 children. If your child previously attended Breakfast Club, and you still require the place, please confirm with the office as soon as possible.

Finally, I would just like to say a big thank you to all of those children who have remained at school throughout this period. They have certainly put a smile on our faces and have made such a difficult situation just that little bit easier.

As usual I will write to you all again on Friday, take care and look forward to seeing you all very soon.

    Mrs McBeth

  • Letter to Parents from Mrs McBeth 12.2.21

    Fri 12 Feb 2021

    Friday 12th February 2021

    Dear Parents/Carers,

Well we have eventually reached the end of this half term! I know you will certainly be ready for the week’s break. I also hope the children and yourselves of course have had some fun in the snow this week!

As of yet we have still not received further information regarding a date which school will reopen for all pupils. We really do hope the Government will continue working towards the reopening date of March 8th as was previously mentioned. Hopefully we receive this information straight after half term. Obviously we will keep you fully informed with any updates.

I hope the children have enjoyed studying their particular country as part of our Around the World with Jarrow Cross theme this week. The virtual meeting with Zeus with the Year 4/5 children was especially a great hit. Also, I hope the Feel Good Friday’s continue to ease the pressures of home learning. Please keep on sending your photographs of your Friday activities, we love seeing all the different things which the children are getting up too.

For your information the Free School Meal Vouchers for February half term have all been posted out to those of you whose children are at home at the moment. Parents of children at school don’t forget to pick your vouchers up from the office before school closes on Friday. Vouchers for next half term cannot be applied for until we return. We will inform you as soon as they are available.

Finally, can I just reiterate again how important your ongoing support has been to us all throughout this last term. There is no doubt that the situation has at times placed immense pressure upon us all. It has been a privilege to see how as a community we have all rallied together to support each other. Thank you to you all.

Have a lovely half term, and I will be in touch after the holiday.

    Take care,

    Mrs McBeth

  • Letter to Parents from Mrs McBeth 5.2.21

    Fri 05 Feb 2021

    Friday 5th February 2021

    Dear Parents/Carers,

We have now come to the end of what seems to have been a very long week! Clearly not all helped by the miserable weather. Let’s hope for an improvement next week.

On a brighter note I hope you and all of the children have all enjoyed the Mental Health Activities which have been set this week. We have certainly had a very positive response to them and also thank you for all of your Feel Good Friday photographs, please keep them coming. We have even heard that parents are recommending our Friday activities to other schools!

Next week there will also be another change to the work set at home and at school. We are planning Around the World with Jarrow Cross! Each year group will be given a country to research, take part in virtual tours and create fact files etc. We hope that yourselves and the children will enjoy the change in format and it will be a nice run up to the half term holidays. The only other work set alongside this will be phonics and spellings.

    The countries covered will be:

Reception - China (to link with Chinese New Year)

    Year 1 – America

    Year 2- France

    Year 3- Italy

    Year 4/5 – Greece

    Year 6 – India

Also just to inform you that from Monday onwards all of the children in Years 3-6 will be receiving a story book, a new exercise book and some squared paper for maths work. It will be delivered out early next week in readiness for the start of next term, as all of the Literacy work for the first two weeks will be based around the book which you receive. Watch out for yet another home delivery!  Also inside the pack will be Online Guidance for Parents and Pupils in reference to any online live sessions which may be planned for the forthcoming weeks.

Regarding the Free School Meal Vouchers for the half term holidays for those children who are attending school, vouchers will be available to be picked up from the office from Wednesday and for those children who are at home they will be posted out. Further information will be sent by text.

Have a good weekend and take care,

    Mrs McBeth
