  • Year 5 sing for Jarrow Town Centre Christmas light switch on

    Fri 25 Nov 2022

Year 5 were invited to sing at tonight's Christmas light switch on in Jarrow Town Centre. The children chose their favourite carols which were, Little Donkey, Silent Night, Away in a Manger and our school's favourite, Peace Came Down at Christmas. We finished off the night with We Wish You a Merry Christmas. We even sang some of our carols along with a brass band, which was really good.  During the evening we were treated to a magic show and some of the children were chosen to help the magician!

Thank you to all of the children and parents, carers and other adults who came along to support us.

E – Safety at Jarrow Cross

    Dear Parents/ Carers,

At Jarrow Cross we take E- Safety (the access of all areas of online technology). In order to keep our children safe at school we have many procedures in place.

Firstly, school has a forensic monitoring system which ensures unwanted content from the internet cannot be accessed on our school computers. We also have an alert system which notifies us of any concerning words, sites etc which anyone in the school community may have tried to access. Furthermore, all school staff complete annual online training regarding how to support our children to be safe online at school and at home.

Online safety is also built into our curriculum as the children are taught at an age appropriate level how to keep themselves safe on the internet and also very importantly whist using social media platforms at home.

With this in mind each week we will be sending out an E- Safety bulletin via DOJO and the website containing important information for parents. For example this may be about about a particular social media platform, social media trend or even an X Box or Playstation Game.

This week the information is about Tik Tok. You will find this document in the Parents  Section  of the website under the E- Safety Category. I hope you find this helpful.

    Kind Regards,

    Mrs McBeth

  • World Cup 2022

    Fri 18 Nov 2022

    Friday 18th November 2022

    Dear Parents/ Carers,

I know you will be aware that the World Cup begins on Sunday!!

To celebrate this, next week the children will be taking part in activities linked to a particular country which is taking part in the tournament.

Also, as England’s first game (England v Iran) starts at 1pm on Monday which is during the school lunch break, we will be showing the game in the hall. Therefore, any child who wishes to watch the game will have the opportunity to do so.

Please note this will be purely optional and does include the children who would normally be attending a swimming session at Jarrow School.

I know you will join with me in wishing England if nothing else a very good run!!

    Have a good weekend,

    Mrs McBeth

    In Flanders Fields

    BY JOHN MCCRAE

In Flanders fields the poppies blow

Between the crosses, row on row,

That mark our place; and in the sky

The larks, still bravely singing, fly

Scarce heard amid the guns below.

We are the Dead. Short days ago

We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,

Loved and were loved, and now we lie,

            In Flanders fields.

Take up our quarrel with the foe:

To you from failing hands we throw

The torch; be yours to hold it high.

If ye break faith with us who die

We shall not sleep, though poppies grow

            In Flanders fields.
