Tuesday 28th February 2023
Dear Parents/ Carers,
I hope you have all had a lovely half term. As always there is a busy term ahead, starting with World Book day on Thursday. We are looking forward to seeing some fabulous costumes, but please be assured that there is absolutely no obligation for the children to dress up. If they do not want to wear a costume they can simply come to school in their school uniform. Also for your information it is whole school photograph day on 13th March. Siblings will be photographed together throughout the day, please note there is no obligation to buy any of these photographs. We will also be celebrating Comic Relief on 17th of March. More information will follow. However, unfortunately I must inform you that due to the Red Noses being unsuitable for children under 7 we are unable to sell them this year.
We are holding our Parent/ Teacher Discussion sessions for children in Reception to Year 5 this term. As usual they will take place via phone call. Please watch out for a text or email over the next few days from which you can then book your appointment. Please note that as phone calls will be from a mobile they call may appear as a withheld number or no caller ID. As last year we have added an extra time slot for the Year3/4 classes. Please ignore any reminder message which states meetings are to be held in the classroom, this is simply automated by the company’s system not school.

Our postcards have been very popular, look at what the Dr's surgery in Hebburn have to say about them. We are so glad people liked them.
To celebrate the theme of Let's Connect for Children's Mental Health we wrote positive messages on postcards and placed them around Jarrow. We hope that people will like our messages and be inspired by them.
This week we have been holding a ballot to choose someone from each class to represent their class and become a member of the School Council.
Each child voted in Polling Booths which were set up in the hall. It was just like the General Election.
As an Eco Aware School, this week we are holding a recycling week.
We are encouraging our children to help protect our planet/environment and importantly spread the word and encourage people at home and in the wider community to Reduce, Reuse and Recycle.
Activities:
R - Making musical instruments from recycled materials
Y1 - Creating a group collage (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle) which can be displayed in school
Y2 - Designing and making recycling robot mascots
Y3/4 - Making bird feeders from recycled materials
Y5 - Zero waste lunch box activity
Y6 - Debate about waste and recycling
Here we are busy recycling!
