                                                                                            Monday 12th September

    Dear Parents/Carers,

I hope you have all had a good first week and are settling back into the school routine. We have had a lovely week and all of the children have settled back in very quickly. Our Reception children started school last Wednesday and I am sure you will all join with me in welcoming both children and parents into our school community.

The children have all come back to school exceptionally smart, so a big thank you to you all for supporting us with the correct uniform. Just a quick note, black jogging bottoms should only be worn on PE days and PE kit consists of a white T- shirt, black shorts or jogging bottoms and red school jumper.

Here are just a few pieces of information for the term ahead. Firstly, please see below the day on which each class has PE.

    Reception – Thursday

    Y1 – Tuesday

    Y2- Tuesday

    Y3/4S- Wednesday

    Y3/4E and Y3/4M- Friday

    Y5T – Monday

    Y5G- Wednesday

    Y5G- Thursday

Y6S-  PE Monday, Swimming on Wednesday

Y6W- PE Wednesday, Swimming on Monday

Also, if you wish your child to receive milk this term the final date for payment is October 2nd. The cost has remained the same at £9.10.

Please remember also if you wish your child to have a packed lunch from home for the lunchtime period this must be requested by letter via the office.

This week your child will have brought home the parental consent form to receive the Nasal Flu spray. We have been given a very quick turnaround to return the forms to the nursing service so if you could please return the form as soon as possible it would be very helpful.

Just a quick note regarding attendance. If your child is absent, please contact the main office on the first day of their absence. A message can be left on the answerphone. Please do not use Dojo to report absences. Teachers are very busy first thing each day and therefore as I am sure you can appreciate messages do not always get passed on to the office.

Finally, I would just like to say a big well done to Mrs Watson (Year 2) who has successfully lead Jarrow Cross to achieve the School Games Gold Award (see logo below) a big thank you to her for all of her hard work.

    Have a good week,

    Kind Regards,

    Mrs McBeth

  • Information regarding the death of Queen Elizabeth

    Fri 09 Sep 2022

    Dear Parents/ Carers,

I know you will join with us all at Jarrow Cross in expressing our sadness at the death of our Queen and extend our condolences to the Royal Family.

It is the end of an era and one which we will ensure is remembered fondly by our children. Today we have held a worship during which we remembered the Queen and the children were given the opportunity to think about what the Queen meant to us all. We will continue to ensure that the teachers discuss and answer any questions the children may have in the forthcoming days.

As we enter this period of national mourning, once details of the funeral are confirmed by the Royal Household, we will write to you with further guidance and information.

    Kind Regards, Mrs McBeth

  • Welcome Back

    Thu 01 Sep 2022

    Thursday 1st September

    Dear Parents/ Carers,

I hope you have had a good summer holidays  and have enjoyed the lovely sunshine.

Here are just a few reminders for the return to school next week. School reopens on Tuesday 6th September for Years 1- 6 and Wednesday 7th for our Reception children.

As last year we will be operating our drop off system between 8.45am and 9am. Children will enter school immediately through their appropriate door during that 15 minute period- see below.

    • Reception and Year 1 pupils will enter via the doors on their respective yards
    • Y2 pupils will enter through the small hall.
    • Y3/4 pupils will use the door to the right of the large hall
    • Y5 and 6 pupils will use the door immediately inside the school yard, at the far right of the school near the car park.

Staff will be supervising each of these entrances and doors will be opened each morning at 8.45am. Unless attending Breakfast Club no children should be unaccompanied on the school premises before 8.45am. KS2 children will not be allowed in the school yard before the start of the school day.

The school day begins at 9am therefore it is vital all children are in their classroom by 9am at the latest.

Also, please remember the school day for Reception, Year 1 and 2 children finishes at 3.10am and children are to be collected from the door in which they entered. The school day for children in Years 3-6 finishes at 3.20pm. Parents of KS2 children should wait in the usual KS2 area at the front of the school. Year3/4 children who are in Miss McNally’s class (formerly Mrs Holt) will exit school via the small hall and so can be collected from that door.  In order to avoid any confusion at home time, if your child is in Year 5 or 6 and will be leaving school unaccompanied please notify either the school office or class teacher.

Breakfast Club will be running as normal from 6th September. There is no need to book and the cost continues to be £2. All children will be escorted to their appropriate classroom at 8.45am.

We have also been lucky enough to continue to secure funding which will enable us to provide all children with a bagel for breakfast at the start of the school day. Bagels will be delivered to each class at 8.45am.

A reminder that uniform consists of red jumper or cardigan, grey skirt or grey or black trousers (not leggings), yellow polo shirt and black shoes or trainers. Please remember there is no obligation to buy uniform which displays the Jarrow Cross badge, a red jumper or yellow T-shirt from any supermarket is perfectly acceptable. Also please remember that we have a good selection of pre- loved uniform available in school to purchase at a much reduced cost. As last year children will wear their PE Kits for school on PE Days. Please remember that PE Kit as in accordance with our uniform code consists of a white T shirt, black shorts/ jogging bottoms and red school jumper.

Children will be notified of their PE days next week.

Enjoy the last week of the holidays and I look forward to seeing you all next week.

    Take Care,

    Mrs McBeth
