  • April Newsletter - King's Coronation

    Tue 25 Apr 2023

    Tuesday 25th April 2023

    Dear Parents/ Carers,

I hope you enjoyed the Easter holidays and are now back into the routine of the new term.

As always the Summer Term will be a busy one and has already started with Year 2 visiting Blagdon Farm, Y3/4 visiting the Great North Museum and Y1 the Discovery Museum. More information will be given to each year group as trips arise.

One important event we will be celebrating next week in the King’s Coronation. In order to honour the event on Friday 5th May the children can come to school wearing red, white and blue or dressed as a King, Queen, Prince or Princess. On this occasion no football strips please. Throughout the day the children will be taking part in activities relating to the Coronation and then will have a tea party during the afternoon in their classrooms. School Lunch will also be Coronation themed with Royal Roast Chicken and Buckingham Bangers!

Can I remind you all that school is closed on Monday 1st May for the Spring Bank Holiday and then again on Monday 8th May in lieu of the Coronation. Just a reminder also, that the last day of this half term is Friday 26th May and the children will return to school on Tuesday 6th June as Monday 5th is an INSET Day.

Finally, just to make you aware that the closing date to order milk for this term is Tuesday 2nd May.

I hope you all enjoy the Bank Holiday Weekend and we finally get some sunshine!

    Kind Regards

    Mrs McBeth

  • Strike Letter - Thursday 27th April and Tuesday 2nd May

    Thu 20 Apr 2023

    Dear Parents/Carers,

Further to the information you received last term regarding NEU Strike Action I am writing to inform you of the arrangements for the next NEU strike days on Thursday 27th April and Tuesday 2nd May. As I informed you previously the strike is happening due to a national dispute between the unions and the government.

I’m getting in touch to give you as much notice as possible about our arrangements for 27th April and 2nd May Teaching staff are not all members of the same union, therefore, I must inform you that school will be closed for children who are in the following classes:

    Y2 Mrs Watson

    Y3/4S

    Y3/4M

Please Note Year 5 and 6 will be attending school as usual.

Please note the 100% attendance of any child in any of the above classes will not be affected by not being in school that day.

If your child is not in any of the above classes they will attend school as usual. Breakfast Club and After School Clubs will also run as usual for all children who can attend school.

Remote Learning- The children have a number of passwords for a variety of programmes, such as Times Table Rockstars and Reading Plus, we would be very grateful if you could encourage them to log onto them during the day.

If your child is entitled to a to Benefit Related Free School Meal, packed lunches will be available to be picked up from the school office at 12 o’ clock on the day of the strike. However, I am sure you will understand that they must be ordered so if you would a like a lunch provided for your child please complete and return the form below by Monday 24th April.

I’m sorry that you will have to make alternative arrangements for your child at short notice, and that they will experience disruption to their education. I understand that this situation may be frustrating, and ask that all members of our school community continue to treat each other with respect. We are working closely with our staff union representatives to keep up to date with the situation, and I will inform you as soon as possible if arrangements change further.

If you have any questions, please contact the office or send an email to the address listed at the top of this letter.

    Kind regards,

    Mrs McBeth
