  • School Closure

    Mon 04 Jan 2021

    Monday 4th January

    Dear Parents/Carer,

Due the Prime Minister’s Announcement this evening, school will be closed tomorrow for all pupils and reopen on Wednesday 6th January for vulnerable children and the children of Key workers only. This day closure will allow us to work on a contingency plan, clarifying the number of children we will have in school from Wednesday and ensure up to date Remote Learning is readily available.

I know this change of message and decision to close schools so suddenly will be as big as shock to yourselves at it us to us. When we reopened last June and then again in September the full closure of school was honestly not anything which I ever envisaged happening again. All of us at Jarrow Cross are greatly saddened that yet again we will not see many of our children for a number of weeks. Please be assured that just as we did in March we will keep you updated with all relevant information.

Regarding the letter sent out earlier today if you are a Key worker could you please return the information form back to school ASAP. They are also available from the school office.

I will be in touch tomorrow with more information regarding Remote Learning and further information for the children who will be in school.

Please take care, I know as a school community we will continue to work together and I hope to see you all very soon.

  • Letter to Parents from Mrs Mcbeth 4.1.2021

    Mon 04 Jan 2021

                                                                                                            Monday 4th January

    Dear Parents/Carers,

I hope you have all had a lovely Christmas and I wish you well for the new year.

Well it is the start of another new term and certainly not the start we would have wished for. The uncertainties continue and I totally understand the anxiety the current situation will be causing. Please note our updated Risk assessment is available on our website.

Regarding the opening of our school, I am sure you will appreciate that this is a rapidly changing situation. At present the majority of schools in South Tyneside and importantly all those schools in the local vicinity are open. At the moment Jarrow Cross has no staffing issues and therefore is able to open to all year groups. However, I am aware this may change very quickly and school may become open to Key Workers and Vulnerable children only.

Should this be the case, in order to help with organisation if you are a Key Worker could I please ask you to complete and return the Key Worker Information sheet asap which is available on our website in the letters section in News and Events or collection from the office. Can I again thank you for your support today and over the weekend period. Your understanding of what a challenging time this is for schools is a huge support to us all.

    Take care,

    Mrs McBeth
