Keep up to date with all the latest news happening in school at the moment.
Last month was Mental Health Week and the theme was 'Your Voice Matters'.
We thought it was important to inspire the children to use their voices to feel heard.
We explored what we mean by protected characteristics and each year group took part in amazing discussions and completed activities around their theme.
Year 2: Race Year 3/4: Age Year 5: Gender Y6: Disability (hidden)
As you can see from the photograph below, the work of year 6 has been noticed by Jarrow's MP and she has shared it on social media.
Year 6 designed a more inclusive disability logo as well as posters to help raise awareness of hidden disabilities.

Yesterday, a group of children attended the FAB Awards to represent our school to receive an award for our hard work and commitment around anti-bullying and inclusivity.
The children who attended the event also had to share and perform a presentation about the work we have done in school.
As always, the children made us extremely proud! They even had a shoutout from one of the lead organisers to say that our presentation was 'show stopping' since they 'nailed it'.
Watch out for our photograph of us holding the trophy standing alongside Councillor Jane Carter and Adam Ellison in the Gazette.
Reception took part in the Temple Park EYFS Superhero Sports Festival with lots of other schools. They had many physical development sports missions to complete. They were super superheroes!
We have been so lucky to work with the Buzz Aldrin Family Foundation who have worked with us to introduce our new Moon Map.
We have been able to explore space, historical timelines, and the many craters of the moon.
The Reece Foundation has kindly funded our school to purchase our own Giant Moon Map. Year 3 and 4 have had such a great time investigating and exploring space.
This week is Children's Mental Health week and the theme is: Your Voice Matters.
Yesterday, members of our health champions/ school council launched it by delivering a worship discussing the importance of using our voice to protect the mental health of ourselves and others.
Throughout the week, children will be completing activities within class.
We welcome you to use the following conversation starters with your child.
It is recycling week at Jarrow Cross. We have had a special visitor from Groundworks to work with each year group, reminding us of how important it is to Reduce, Reuse and Recycle.
Reception and Year 1 children made animal collages with recycled paper.
Year 2 reused household boxes and made the most amazing robots.
Year 3/4 took part in a litter pick and made a huge difference to our school grounds. We collected 12 bin liners full of plastic, keeping our wildlife and environment safe and clean.
Year 5 designed a cactus using recycled card. They were not allowed to use any tape or glue.
Year 6 reused old, torn books and made the most amazing origami models.
At Jarrow Cross we take democracy seriously.
We took part in an election to vote for a new member of school council to represent each class. Part of the role involves: organising projects, worships for whole school events and developing links with the local community.
Another role the new school council are taking on is becoming a 'health champion' for our school. They will work closely with the You, Me and the World lead to help organise events such as: mental health week, refugee week, anti-bullying and many others.
The names of the children who were elected were revealed in Friday's worship:
Y3/4 = Unzilah, Ted and Isla
Y5 = Amelia and Theo
Y6 = Charlotte and Ruby
Well Done!
Reception A enjoyed the Vex 123 activity this morning.
Today Year 5 and 6 had a visit from The Sea Cadets. They learnt all about the Sea Cadets and then competed in teams to make a seaworthy vessel that would be capable of carrying marbles. The winning team built a boat that could carry 57 marbles before it sank! The boat was named The Float, but I think the best name by far was called Tin-Tanic!
